During the widening of I-15 to accommodate the new Legacy interchange, Nix needed to install 48” reinforced concrete pipe through the adjacent embankment to serve as a storm drain.
Using a 400-ton pipe jack at ground level rather than inside a pit left us without a capacity reaction wall to provide leverage. No problem. We designed and constructed an above-ground backstop. It took 65 yards of concrete to complete, but 176 feet of pipe jacking later, the water was flowing.
