126th South Sewer Diversion
South Valley Sewer District

We were hired to construct approximately 2000 Lf of 36” PVC Sewer across the River Bend Golf Course in Riverton.  We opted to utilize a two pass method of construction.  We are using a 58” diameter tunnel bore machine and 400 ton pipe jack to install 58” Permalock steel casing.  When we have the casing in place, we slide the 36” PVC sewer pipe through the completed 58” tunnel.  We broke the job into three individual drives: 1. 470 LF 2. 750 LF and 3. 710 LF.  All drives are on a design slope of 0.25%.  To date, we have completed the first and second drive.  They have both been successful, but challenging (it is what we live for).  We are planning to move off of the job by 30 April 2010, and will return in December to complete the third, and final, tunnel.

UPDATE:Well, we moved back to the sight, right before Christmas 2010. We launched the Tunnel Bore Machine on the Monday the 27th of December. By the middle of January, we “holed through” out in the middle of the golf course. We were able to meet up with the pipe we installed last year with only inch difference between the two pipes. Basically, NUTS ON! Nothing like threading a needle from 700 feet away. Good job boys!
